1. Copernicus Hackathon Darmstadt
Cesah GmbH, together with HVBG and FabSpace Darmstadt are inviting everyone keen on space and innovation to join a 24-hour Hackathon with three challenges referring to the main theme of the event, which is “smart cities/urban planning with a focus on traffic”. The event will take place on 12-13 October 2018 at HUB31, Darmstadt, Germany.
The main prize will be one seat on the Copernicus Accelerator Program (one year duration) for the winning team.
All teams will have an opportunity to pitch live at INTERGEO 2018 in Frankfurt am Main, on 17 October. Only candidates who are residents of the EU Member States, Norway, or Iceland are eligible to participate. They should register individually, or as a team of two or four, before 10 October through the Project’s website.
2. CEEHACKS Smart Health Hackathon Prague 2018
Enthusiasts of Design, Engineering, Big Data or Technology who are ready to take medicine to the next level, may compete for a cash prize amounting to 100,000 CZK, as well as other partner prizes. The 48-hour Hackathon will be held in the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague (Czech Republic), from 26 to 28 October.
The ten Challenges to be faced cover issues regarding the creation of digital facilities for patients and medical staff, detection of abnormalities and diseases, and management of chronic non-infectious diseases and addictions. Participants are to build a prototype of their solutions in one of the three Challenges chosen in the application process.
In order to increase their chances of being invited to the Hackathon, candidates should apply as a team of exactly 3 members, rather than as individuals.
Applications should be submitted through the website of the event. Closing date is October 12.
3. NewSpace2060 International Moon Pitch Competition 2018
NewSpace2016, along with the Moon Village Association are calling individuals or teams with ideas on the creation of the Moon Village and the NewSpace Ecosystem to submit a 3-minute video with their pitch, through the competition’s website.
Presentation topics should represent one of the following categories: Moon Village architectural concepts and issues, Moon Village Standards, Human factors, Moon Markets: Missions and Economics, Mission and Markets Requirement Data, or Moon Village Critical Services.
Candidates from around the world are welcome to submit.
The benefits of participation include, among others, the first ever MVA innovation award for each pitch category and a special prize of 1500 Euro for the best proposal referring to the construction of the Moon Village (the latter funded by RST ARCHES).

4. BSH Future Home Accelerator, Powered by Techstars
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH and Techstars are seeking startups capable of revolutionizing the home appliance market by providing digital services for the future home and connected kitchen. The 10 top applicants will be invited to a 3-month acceleration program held in a co-working space in Munich (Germany). They will be provided with personal mentorship, coaching and equipment essential for creating a pilot/proof of concept. They will also have an opportunity to pitch their ideas to the investors gathered at the Demo Day. Finally, financial backup is guaranteed to all participants in the acceleration.
The project is open to candidates from around the world. To apply, fill out the online questionnaire available on the F6S Platform. Deadline is October 14.
5. EUROGIA2020 Project Pitch Session
Innovative businesses operating on low-carbon technologies are invited to participate in the EUROGIA2020 Project pitching session on 17 October 2018 in Madrid, Spain.
Proposals only within the scope of these 5 sector areas will be accepted: Solar PV, CSP, Wind, Geothermal, and Ocean Energy.
The event is to facilitate access to funding opportunities and international industry partners to work with on R&D projects. All one has to do to register for the project pitch session is prepare the predefined template available on the event’s website, and send it to the designated email address. The cut-off date is October 15.
The event is organized by EUROGIA2020 and the EUREKA Cluster for low-carbon energy technologies, in collaboration with the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan). More information on the Project Session can be found on its website.
6. IMPACT Connected Car Acceleration & “Smartization” Programme – 2nd Call
The Programme, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020, is intended for SMEs (including incorporated startups) with solutions covering the following challenges: Safety and security, Driver assistance, Well-being, Mobility management, Vehicle management, and Infotainment. The Project is also open to other proposals on condition that they are applicable or transferable to field of the connected car.
Submitted projects should be in a TRL7, TRL8 or TLR9 development phase and have potential to build new value link-chains.
Beneficiaries of the 3 stage “Smartization” Programme will receive up to 60,000 Euro equity-free, along with a package of relevant services, including tailor-made mentoring and coaching. Access to crowdfunding campaigns will also be provided.
The Programme is mainly open to SMEs situated in the EU Member States, Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) and Countries Associated with Horizon 2020. Applications should be submitted online via the programme’s website.
The deadline for the first call is 18th October at 17:00 CET.
7. Discoveries Travel and Tourism Startup Accelerator by Fábrica de Startups and Turismo de Portugal
The Programme is open to tech incorporated startup teams (minimum 2 people) operating in fields such as productivity, cities, mobility, community, hospitality, entertainment, ecommerce, big data, crowd sourcing, software as a service, marketplaces, and augmented reality. Relevance of the proposals to the Travel and Tourism industry will be a plus.
Up to fifteen teams will have an opportunity to boost their businesses during a set of bootcamps led according to the FastStart Methodology established by Fábrica de Startups. The final part of the Program will be an investment pitch session in front of Business Angels, Venture Capitalists, and other potential investors.
Businesses at any stage of development, and from any part of the world, are eligible to apply. Deadline for applications is October 21.
