Every year Res Publica (Warsaw-based journal) together with Google, the Financial Times and the Visegrad Fund publish New Europe 100 – a list of selected 100 innovators from Central and Eastern Europe.
NE100 isn’t only about tech geeks, it is a list of outstanding people from different sectors who are changing regions, societies, politics or business environments and displaying fresh approaches to prevailing problems. Among laureates you can find entrepreneurs, scientists, policy makers as well as a secondary school teacher, NGO’s activist or an artist. What all of them have in common is courage to have big ideas and to act.
“The impulse for the creation of the list NE100 was a desire to present potential and creative activities of people from Central and Eastern Europe ” – says Danuta Dobrzyńska-Schimmer, New Europe 100 coordinator.
This year almost three hundred people were nominated and last week winners of NE2017 were announced. They come from 14 countries; almost half of them are entrepreneurs, 30 percent are scientists. Below we present the laureates from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
